THE STORY OF
CHEESE DEMOCRACY
Anya has always been into cheese. Her wedding cake was three wheels of it thank you very much! But cheese consumption was always tinged with difficulty for her as a vegetarian since the age of 12 and supporter of animal and environmental ethics.

During lockdown number eight hundred and fifty four she found a new venture – cheese making. There she found the control to not only ensure the ingredients she used matched her ethical requirements, she also found a new passion – Feta! This passion could be neatly packaged in 120ml glass jars and handed to friends for enjoyment. She also fell in love with the little bit of magic that is home made cheese making.

The birth of Cheese Democracy came from friends asking her to make and sell the cheese to them. But what really lights Anya up is the sharing of the cheese and how to make it. Letting people know that if she could do it, anyone can.

Anya refined her recipes to make them simple and easy to follow. Then she worked with friends, and strangers, to ensure that her clients would really know how to make rave worthy feta, haloumi, ricotta and goats chevre at home. Anya loves cheese and she knows she is not alone.
A little bit more about Anya. She loves long walks on the beach but lives nowhere near one so settles for walking up hills at her local golf course. She is a transport economist (don’t ask) during work hours but transforms into a slotted spoon wielding, less overtly sexy Nigella, when pasturised milk is on the table.

She lives in the beautiful Macedon Ranges in Central Victoria and will happily travel to your kitchen (in Victoria) to impart her wisdom and share the simple joy of turning milk into cheese at home.
